Pregnancy and Children

Below is a list of links and resources ranging from pregnancy classes offered from Vanderbilt, maternity benefits, lactation rooms, and child-sitting services.
  • MyMaternityHealth - Maternity patients enrolled in MyMaternityHealth will receive a high-touch care experience delivered through a Vanderbilt Health patient navigator, facilitated access to Vanderbilt Health providers and an enhanced focus on convenience and communication.
  • GME Family and Child Resources - Family resources compiled by the GME office.
  • Babies and You (Provided by Health Plus) - A prenatal education program offered to Vanderbilt faculty/staff, spouses, covered dependents, and in the first trimester(12 weeks) of pregnancy.
  • Childbirth Education Classes - Classes such as beginning breastfeeding, new beginnings childbirth, and newborn care are offered at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital.
  • Baby's Best Start - The following "healthy pregnancy and baby's best start" tool kit has information to help faculty and staff locate resources offered through VUMC and other reliable sources.
  • VA Lactation Room Locations - Listed below are locations for laction rooms. Please note, both rooms will have refrigerators and microwave ovens.
    Nashville Campus: Room F-153, ACRE Building (first floor in the building between the VA and Light Hall where resident outpatient continuity clinics are located).
    York (Murfreesboro) Campus: Room G-22, Building 3
  • Children's Hospital Health & Wellness Library - Browse from Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital resources about steps you can take to provide a healthier lifestyle for your child(ren).
  • My 9 Months - Developed by March of Dimes experts, you can use this website to learn about important information about before, during, and after pregancy.
  • Pregnancy and New Baby - VUMC supports you in your pregnancy and your return to work. The following programs and services are available to support you during this exciting time in your life.

Spouse and Significant Other

Did you know Vanderbilt provides benefits for, not just you, but also for your spouse or significant other? You could also join the Vanderbilt Housestaff Alliance or even PGY Moms. If your department has its own group you would like to have listed below, please feel free to contact Graduate Education Medical Office with your group name and description.
  • Vanderbilt Housestaff Alliance - A non-profit social and service organization composed of the spouses and significant others of Vanderbilt house staff and alumni. For more information, please contact president@vhalliance.org.
  • PGY Moms - PGY-Mom is a dedicated group interested in helping out physician moms in residency or fellowship at Vanderbilt. Enjoy play dates with other PGY-Moms, have access to shared resources, and ask others for advice on being a physician mom.
  • Dual Career Program - Offers a personalized career and job search assistance for spouses and partners of relocated Residents.
  • Tuition Benefit - Together with EdAssist, Vanderbilt University Medical Center can provide tuition assistance for Employee, Spouse, Dependent and Nursing to an online system. EdAssist also offers no-cost academic and college finance advising to employees. EdAssist Customer Service hours are from 7AM - 7PM CT, Monday - Friday.
